IS YOGA FOR ME?

Let’s start with the main question IS YOGA FOR YOU? Below I present you most common myths and doubts that beginners or people who are completely unfamiliar with yoga have.

I’M NOT STRETCHED
Cool! Yoga classes are made just for you! Yoga is a great solution for people who value balance. They want to increase range of movement, work out and stretch body at the same time. If you’re concerned about your level of mobility, give yourself time. Not every yogi curls up in a pretzel and meditates in a Lotus Flower.

I’M TOO OLD TO PRACTICE YOGA
When you enter a Yoga Studio you usually see beautiful, thin and young people. It’s easy to asumpt, that yoga means performing asanas (figures) open the mat. But that’s not true. Yoga is a field teaching you self-awareness. Yoga is for everyone! There are so many different styles these days – even Yoga for Seniors. Just check locally and find a class suits you most.

I DON’T LIKE FITNESS CLASSES
YOGA is a whole system built on cleansing the mind, body and releasing from tormenting emotions through movement, breath and meditation. It’s not a fitness class where you do the same exercises over and over again. It’s a comprehensive tool for body, mind and spirit that can help you in a very profound way. There are so many styles of yoga so you can easily find the one that resonates with you.

YOGA IS ONLY FOR WOMEN
Historically, yoga was created for men. It wasn’t until the 19th century that women were allowed to practice. Today, yoga is the domain of women who naturally strive for soft, calm activities, but this does not limit anything. I personally know many male yogis and yoga teachers who live with the very core of yoga attitude without loosing masculinity. You can be a yoga practitioner regardless of gender.
